The Civil Engineering Department (FIC) at the UNI has more than 142 years dealing with infrastructure and development needs of our country. The FIC is accredited by the ABET and train professionals for excellence. All FIC’s students are admitted after a rigorous admission exam in Sciences. They receive an outstanding training thanks to our first-rate professors, 24 doctorates and more than 150 professionals with a master’s degree, and the constant implementation of technical and cutting edge scientific concepts that enables them to plan, design, build and manage sustainable infrastructure projects.

VIRTUAL TECHNOLOGY IN

DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT

In 2013, the Department of Civil Engineering at The National University of Engineering (UNI) built the Virtual Design and Construction Laboratory with the aim of implementing and encouraging the use of BIM virtual technology in the infrastructure construction design and management, increasing productivity in the engineering sector and preparing our graduates for a top position in the national and international professional field.

 

Our laboratory professionals have been executing multiple activities that involve technological tools mastering for design and modeling of: buildings, infrastructure and construction management implemented by FIC students and graduates.

 

We have agreements with specialized software companies such as Autodesk, Trimble, Bentley,Revizto, Pix4D and Graphisoft. We have also implemented BIM methodology in construction projects and trained students, teachers and general public. Likewise, we interact with the BIM professional community through specialized events.

The Virtual Design and Construction Laboratory has modern facilities, equipped with last generation technology for modeling and ICE meetings.

The Virtual Design and Construction Laboratory at the FIC – UNI participates in the specialized professional community through organizations that promote the implementation and development of BIM methodology, such as the Peruvian Chamber of Construction – CAPECO, the National Institute of Quality, Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation.
